"Do you have any kind of ... gentleman friend?"

When in counsel with an academic mentor, this, according to unknown guidelines, is a pertinent question in the definition of one's personal state of "general happiness" (mine).

I ponder it because (1) if I had answered "yes" (as I did), the conversation would only continue as before, the question having added nothing of value, but (2) if I had answered "no," I do wonder what his constructive advice would have been.

If he was, I believe a telltale sign would be his time machine and/or old-timey top hat (either of which would boost his sexability factor all the way to 11), or his desiccated corpse (which would not).

Gentleman friend? Is your mentor from like 1870? Because that would be awesome.

Sometimes I wish life were like a Choose Your Own Adventure book, where if you shout "crap!" at the ending, you can flip back and find out what could have happened.

I always want do-overs in situations, just to see how different the outcome would be.

There should be some mad genius working feverishly to invent such a thing.

Glo'ri'a'na, noun:
1. An alternative form of "Gloria."
2. As "Americana" defines itself as artefacts of American culture, "Gloriana" consists of the artefacts of my culture.
